Down-Da-Village Resort is a small intimate hotel with just 14 rooms offering spacious, air-conditioned comfort for your stay. Set amidst the lush green countryside, the hotel gives a feel of homely stay with all modern amenties at absolutely reasonable price.

All rooms are air-conditioned, of modern design with comfortable furnishing and have en-suite bathrooms with showers. Rooms are categorised as per the size. The Deluxe rooms are on the ground floor and have washrooms with bathtubs, whereas the Superior Rooms on the higher floors are more of a one Bedroom apartment, with separate Living Room & a Bedroom with en-suite bathrooms with showers.

As we want our guests to enjoy their stay, we provide daily cleaning service as well as fresh linen and towels. The 2 or 3 bedroom apartments furthermore all have air-condition, a bathroom/toilet with shower and a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave. A washing machine, a private barbecue grill and satellite television provide further comfort and make our guests feel at home.

As the 2 bedroom units are equipped with double beds, they sleep a maximum of 4 persons. The 3 bedroom apartments offer additional space for two more guests. A baby cot can be provided on request.

Guests find a variety of water sports facilities as well as tourist activities and attractions in Flic en Flac and all along the west coast.

A bit of history is important to help explain the Pousada Contos de Minas’ mission and philosophy. In 1938, the grandparents of the current hosts opened a Rancho de Tropas on this very spot, when it was still rural Mariana. It was a stopping point, a provisioning center, an inn, a watering hole, a meeting place, and a center of communications for the tropeiros with their pack horses and mule-trains bringing goods, supplies, and news to and from Mariana. Continuing the long-standing tradition, the Camêllo family opened the Contos de Minas in 2003 with the goal of offering the very same warm welcome, hospitality, good night’s sleep, and hearty food to travelers in the region.

Although the façade and entrance to the Pousada Contos de Minas are located on a city center in Mariana city street that can be busy during business hours, the hotel building extends back from the street with the majority of guestrooms and common spaces well-insulated from the hustle and bustle and actually very quiet and peaceful. The reception area, guest living room, computer room, and breakfast room/restaurant with orchidarium windows occupy the ground floor. Social spaces are simply decorated with comfortable furniture, accents of local handcrafts, sisal rugs, and polished granite floors. Guest rooms are located upstairs on two floors along cool, wide corridors with occasional sitting areas.

The Pousada Getsêmani’s name reflects the host’s desire to offer his guests a peaceful haven. One enters from the street through a garden gate and immediately feels the welcoming shade of the trees surrounding the property. A stone staircase leads to a veranda with a sitting area in front of the lobby and reception area with a living room with sofas and a television for guests’ use. Both host and staff are friendly and helpful with recommendations of what to see and do in Mariana or with arranging transportation, guides, or reservations.

Guest rooms in Pousada Getsêmani are located on two floors. A traditional homemade breakfast with a huge variety of baked goods, fruits, juices, local cheese, and more is served in the bright breakfast room which offers views of the historic city center.

The Pousada da Serrinha is a total surprise, as the main house and ample gardens only reveal themselves once the massive wooden gate in the hibiscus hedge rolls open. Across an area of huge paving stones the wide stone steps flanked by twin palms lead up to the front portico and into the foyer and reception area.

A large breakfast room/bar/social space stretches front to back on the left, while several downstairs guestrooms occupy the right side, where a door opens onto a back veranda overlooking the gardens and more guest apartments. An impressive wooden double return staircase, the banisters carved with the same motif repeated throughout the house, rises at the back of the foyer and leads to the upstairs living room and guestrooms.

Decoration is eclectic, with antique accents and lots of potted plants. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with flowering plants and shrubs, numerous fruit trees that attract a variety of birds and small animals, and an organic garden with herbs and vegetables.

The extensive use of ceramic tile, glass, polished granite, metal, and white with accents of colour and good natural lighting give a sleek, clean, modern feeling to the Avenida Palace.

Well-equipped, comfortable, guest rooms are distributed on three floors. The ground floor houses the reception area, several guest rooms, and access to the secure parking garage. The reception area has newspapers and tourist information available for guests.

Hotel offices occupy the first floor.
